What is PDA?

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a profile of autism characterized by an extreme need to avoid and resist ordinary demands of life. Children with PDA experience anxiety-driven demand avoidance that can look like defiance but is rooted in a nervous system response to perceived loss of autonomy.

What the App Does

PDX PDA Mutual Aid connects Portland-area families navigating PDA. The app facilitates financial aid requests, caregiver swaps, community meetups, and shared resources. It's a private, trust-based network — not a public forum.
